What can be done to cut the number of fatal attacks on our police?

Just over a year ago on July 7, 2016 in downtown Dallas, five officers and nine others were injured when a black sniper opened fire during a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest. The sniper was later identified as a 25-year-old Army veteran who used a semi-automatic assault rifle to pick off his victims that awful night.

Summer has hit the Texas Panhandle. Our long, hot days can stress plants. Country Magazine offers three tips to quench their thirst. First, early morning and very late afternoon are the best times to water. Secondly, water the roots not the plant since the roots do most of the drinking. Finally, soil dries out quickly in a container, so water daily or more often if the top layer of soil is dry.

On Saturday, April 18, 1942 16 B-25 bombers manned by a total of 80 men launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. The raid was planned and led by Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle. The Doolittle Raid's goals were to target the Japanese Home Islands with the goal of demonstrating Japan was vulnerable, retaliate for the attack on Pearl Harbor and boost American morale.
