Lake Meredith National Recreation Area hosting Star Party Aug. 12

The Lake Meredith National Recreation Area is hosting a Star Party Saturday, August 12. The main viewing area will be at the Fritch Fortress Amphitheater located inside the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area. The Star Party begins at 9:00 p.m. and continues to 11:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Professor Arthur Schneider will lead the interpretive star gazing. Multiple telescopes will be set up allowing visitors to observe star clusters, planets and galaxies. Professor Schneider, with assistance from Park Rangers, will also guide visitors in observing the night sky with binoculars and the naked eye. Participants should bring outdoor clothing, lawn chairs and insect repellent.
