E.W. “Runt” Vassar

E. W. “Runt” Vassar, 81, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Fellowship Church with George Young, son-in-law and Rev. Tim Hall, assistant pastor, officiating. Interment will be in “The Garden of Beatitudes” at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Vassar was born on June 9, 1929. He married Elba Simpson on July 28, 1951, in Cushing, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a supervisor at Phillips Refinery.
He loved to raise bird dogs, working on cars, and especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife Elba Vassar of the home, two daughters, Debbie Kay Young and husband George and Clesta Collins and husband Roger, all of Borger; sister Lou McCoy and husband George of Coleman, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family will be staying at 102 Skycrest in Borger.
